What We Do

What does the Greater Arbutus Business Association Do?

The Greater Arbutus Business Association stimulates growth and networking among community businesses, provides an avenue to voice concerns to civic leaders and elected officials, facilitates the beautification of Arbutus and helps maintain a thriving business marketplace. GABA has proudly served the community since 2017 and the services it provides have altered the face of Arbutus and strengthened its business community.

The Association, through grant funding and member support, provides street cleaning services in the East Drive Business District. The GABA contracts with a landscaper to keep the grass at the entry to Arbutus (Southwestern Blvd. and Linden Ave.) and along Carville/Oregon Ave. maintained in the summer. Pocket gardens are located along the East Drive corridor and are part of GABA’s effort to improve the aesthetic appearance of the community.

Annually, GABA provides scholarships to graduating senior high school students who have performed community service work in the community over and above that required. Scholarship amounts vary based on the number of applicants but are generally at least $500.

GABA is represented in local community service organizations including the Wilkens Police and Community Relations Organization and the UMBC Neighbor Relations Group.
